  • Write a sentence to describe this scene. Can you use a fronted adverbial? What is the effect of using one? Why not put the adverbial phrase in a different position in your sentence?
  • Who owns the cats? Do they have the same owner?
  • Who lives in this house?
  • Why are the cats sitting here?
  • What might they be saying to each other? What might they be thinking?
  • Why is the moon so big?
  • Why is the picture called ‘Night Watch’? Who is watching? Why?

1.When midnight struck, two cats maybe more stared out into the oblivious cosmos waiting for the moon to reach centre point and for the light to rain down on them.

2.I think they both have the same owner and the smaller cat is the younger one or the older ones son or daughter.
