Thank you so much for this. As a Y6 teacher facing SATs I use these regularly to aid inference. The addition of linked SATs questions was massively helpful. The illustration made for a lively discussion as to whether the ‘people’ were being sucked up or dropped down before I gave them the title. Thank you!

Darkness. Death. Disappearance. Life got sucked away through the one light that stood. It was isolated, oblivious, lonely in a street, but that Light reigned. Conquered. Ruled whoever went by. The King and Queen were useless against the master of light and day. They were no longer the Rulers of this land that we live on, it was the Phosphorescent beam that ruled. It took lives away into the depths of the shadows. Loves ones gone, forever. It would whisper “come closer, come closer…” putting you in a trance,a curse. There was nothing you could do. Except stand and watch them leave forever and never come back. The post that it stood on would stand tall like an Eagle but stay as quite as a mouse. Scintillant light looming over while you waltz in the air and then you’re gone like a blink of an eye. So say goodbye to your family. You never know when it will strike. Just make sure your not standing in the illuminated path of this ruler.

Here I am, at the apparently spooky place. I think it’s lovely. Wait, I can hear something! I can hear someone! Who is it?! Ahh! It’s touching me! They feel like… they feel like…tentacles! I turned around, my heart pounding out my chest. There was no one there! Suddenly, a lamp post turned on. It didn’t look like a lamp post. I stood under it. Dancing. Singing. Daydreaming. Then, my soul got sucked up! I was dead.

Pheboe was walking on the cliff side, when all of a sudden, cold hands grabbed around her and threatened to throw her off the edge! Her heart froze. She fell cold. Everything turned black.

As I drove down the narrow road, the road got darker and darker… BANG! I had hit something a barrier? A bend? The cliff?

As the stars glimmerd over the cliff and a reflection appeared on the water. Then turned on the lampposts, as I walked along the road I felt like I was being watched. Electric shivers ran down my spine something felt like it was tapping me on the shoulder. My heart felt like it was popping out of my chest. Sweating. Scared. Frightened. I took one more steps then.

As I strolled past the towering street light I had a picture of the cold blooded creature in my head .Then with another step I ran as fast as the night wind. But they was no point as I turned around it was peering over me.My time was ticking. It scanned my body and as I edged away it gripped my shoulder. My pulse started to race I peered over it’s shoulder .That was when it had came to an end,my time had run up .Then I staggered to my feet,.

It was a Friday night. My worst nightmare.School had finished for the summer holidays. I had read something online, it was like there was something happening in my city. But I didn’t listen. I didn’t care. The stupid person I was I went around the town.
